ASIC Inspector Training Programme Achieves Global CPD UK Certification

ASIC is pleased to announce that its new Inspector Training Programme has officially achieved full accreditation from The CPD Certification Service, the UK’s leading professional development body with global recognition.

Following a rigorous submission and evaluation process, this prestigious recognition aligns the organisation's inspector training with the leading global standard for Continuing Professional Development. Given the international scope of ASIC’s educational accreditation work across dozens of countries, partnering with CPD UK ensures that its inspectors operate at the highest level of world-class quality assurance.

The newly certified 10-unit curriculum replaces all previous training frameworks, significantly raising the bar for ASIC's approach to modern regulatory training.

Perspective from the ASIC Board of Governors (ABG)

"ASIC is delighted to announce that after a rigorous submission process, our new Inspector Training Programme has been fully certified by CPD UK.

This recognition is particularly welcome given the international scope of our work and CPD UK’s stature as the leading global provider of professional development certification.

We believe that our new programme is more comprehensive than that of any other educational accrediting body."

— Dr Lawrence Watson, ASIC Chief Inspector and Qualifications Advisor, and Member of the ABG.

Global Consultancy & Institutional Capacity Development

Beyond internal training, this certified framework serves as a vital blueprint for elevating international educational standards, extending high-level expertise to national accrediting bodies and regional regulatory agencies globally.

Through targeted capacity development initiatives, agreements such as ASIC's recent partnership with Thailand's national higher education quality assurance body ONEQA, and specialised educational quality assurance consultancy, this infrastructure assists cross-border ministries of education and national agencies in strengthening their own regulatory frameworks. By providing a scalable model for institutional capacity building, the programme actively supports the sector in establishing robust benchmarking standards, refining local inspector training, and driving sustainable educational quality assurance globally.

Key Details: Course Structure & Duration

Designed to provide a transparent, easily extractable overview for stakeholders and prospective candidates, the certified programme is structured as follows:

- Total Course Hours: 50 hours (Fully rated and certified by CPD UK).
- Average Duration: 24 weeks (Featuring flexible, self-paced learning options to accommodate existing professional commitments).
- Curriculum Scope: Comprehensive coverage of the entire inspector journey, from initial pre-visit preparation through to the submission of the final accreditation report.
- Learning Formats: Delivery includes an online tutor-led induction, pre-recorded instructional videos for each unit, and 1-to-1 tutorial support for portfolio development.
- Practical Field Experience: Trainees gain hands-on experience through a phased integration process as an Observer, Supporting Inspector, and Reporting Inspector.

Purpose of the Programme & Assessment Process

This professional development training is specifically tailored for candidates who have already successfully completed the initial ASIC selection process.

The structured curriculum focuses entirely on equipping selected trainees with the practical tools, regulatory insights, and confidence required to carry out their eventual inspector roles effectively. Rather than acting as a tool for further suitability judgements, the assessments are strictly formative, ensuring trainees are fully prepared to progress to each subsequent unit.

Types of Assessment Included:

- Professional discussions and peer reviews
- Short essays on regulatory standards
- Draft report writing and evaluation
- A comprehensive practical portfolio
