ASIC COVID-19 Statement

Dear ASIC institutions, partners, and friends,

Our thoughts go out to everyone affected by the current situation. As ASIC staff care for our own vulnerable loved ones, we share our sincerest and deepest empathy with you all. We find ourselves in an unprecedented situation, but we can take solace in the fact that we are all in this together – and it is together that we will make it through.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has changed the world we live in overnight. Daily life will not be as we have known it for some time. For students affected by the disruption to their studies, it is heartbreaking. To the staff at our institutions, pulling together to continue to provide quality education provision in such times, we thank you for your dedication and commitment. For those who are continuing to provide education and care for the children of heroic frontline and emergency staff around the world – you too are the heroes of this crisis. Thank you.

There has already been a profound impact on international education, and there are testing times ahead, but we remain hopeful. The community actions of institutions, students, parents, education bodies, service providers, and others in the sector, united in their efforts to provide support for one another, are heartening. We will work together to seek solutions to minimise disruption to students, and their attainment, as much as we all can.

Here at ASIC, we will continue to operate as normally as possible. As we adapt to daily developments, we will keep you informed of our response. Our duty of care to our staff means that we have closed the ASIC office and will be working from home, in line with UK government advice. Other than our place of work, we will continue to operate as normal during our UK office hours (09:00-17:00). Our phone lines are operating as usual. Our staff are all available via e-mail, so please continue to use your current point of contact. If you have any questions, please e-mail info@asic.org.uk.

We also take our duty of care to you, our institutions, seriously. We will continue to provide guidance and support, during these challenging times, in any way we that we can. As mentioned above, our contact hours remain the same, and our staff are here to help as normal. Where we are unable to assist, or your request falls outside of our remit as an accrediting body, we will point you to other organisations best placed to help.

We have championed innovation and co-operation in international education from the beginning. Now, more than ever, it will be these two guiding principles which will help us all to continue to provide quality education. From online learning being embraced in a new way, to international students and staff connecting and learning from each other around the world, we will make it through – together.

Our very best wishes to you all,

From all of us at ASIC.
